As the heat ratchets up and the summer rains settle in, the fishing continues to be solid. We have enjoyed solid days on each outing this week with big snook, big redfish, some nice trout, jack crevalle and countless snapper filling the boat on each trip.

The variable on each trip has been the bait. While it is always plentiful, one day we find ourselves loaded with big pilchards, one day big threadfins and pinfish, and another day medium pilchards. What makes it fun, is adjusting to the opportunity to catch some real trophies when we end up with a load of big bait, versus a lot more bites, on feisty, but smaller fish.
